Draft between window and frame in new build property

Post by sterumbelow » Thu May 20, 2021 9:18 am

Hi, everyone.

I’m in a new build house and have lived here for just over a year.

In one of the windows, I get a draft on the hinge side of the window. There’s a gap between where the window closes, and the frame. It isn’t a uniform gap - maybe 1mm at the bottom and 3mm at the very top. All the other windows appear to be 1mm or so, including the other window in the same frame (which doesn’t have a draft).

Is there any way for me to pull the top in tighter? Is it due to the frame not being square?

Appreciate any help,
Ste.

Hi sterumbelow
Open the window and check the top and bottom hinges are the same distance from the edge of the frame - if not reposition the top one. If they are check that the sides of the frame are vertical or equally off vertical if they don’t match redo fixings into the opening to correct this.
