Drain rods

Just how flexible should drain rods be?

I just bought a set from Wickes with the hope of clearing an apparent blockage I have somewhere in the underground pipes from my downstairs cloakroom toilet and basin. However I cant even get them past the first bend in the toilet soil pipe in the floor and I am reluctant to try forcing it too much in case I damage the lining of the pipes.

For a single rod element, about a yard long, it takes a lot of effort to bend it even through 90 degrees. It seems very stiff.

they will bend round a 90 degree bend but will bedifficult to bend round a 90 degree elbow. If poss put drain rods down from soil stack vent

You can buy a small brass wheel to fit on the end of the rods, this will make it much easier to get past joints.
