Drainage behind a small chalet property

by vocale » Sun May 16, 2021 8:00 pm

Hi there, I've done a lot of research and still stumped. I want to create more drainage at the rear of a small chalet - see picture... Problem is, if we put pipes in (French Drain), there is nowhere for the pipe to direct the water as we're in a 'row' of chalets. The ground runs down toward the property and at the moment has stones that are approx 20cm deep. There is no pooling at the back of the property but wondered if I should dig a much deeper trench and re-fill with stones (or different grades of stones)... Any thoughts/advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers, Graham

Hi vocale
Unless you have problems of damp ingress or flooding there seems little advantage in increasing the depth of the drainage trench.
