I wonder if anyone could give some guidance.
Husband has drilled into the chimney wall in my daughters room to attach some shelving.
Soon after, a strong rusty smell had been lingering for the past two days despite airing.
I'm not sure if we should be concerned or if this is normal.
The chinmey/fireplace is not in use bur not capped and has suspected dampness after seeing damp spots appearing on our wall on the other side of the chimney shaft, but no dampness showing my daughters.
Could this smell pass or should we get someone in to have a look at this.
We have drilled on the other side of the chimney before and never had this issue, so we are clueless what to do next .
