I have ripped out my back extension and discovered that there is no insulation in the floor or walls. I am back to the brick (only one layer of brick) and a cement floor. I have bought the floor insulation (80mm) and dpm but how thick does the top layer of cement need to be?

Walls: Do I simply insulate the wall with insulated plasterboard? There is a small section at the back of the extension which does not appear to have a dpm installed in the wall. How to fix this problem? Can I bring the floor dpm up the wall a meter?

Which goes on first the floor or wall? Thanks for any help...

Another thing... can the top layer of cement be a minimum thickness with some reinforcement in it to prevent it cracking. What is the technical term for this reinforcement and where can I get it. B&Q said to use chicken wire, but he didn't look convincing. The room area is very small, can I do the insulation in the walls in very 'thin' way? Thanks!
