I have recently decided to rip out the old flooring in my kitchen/diner. The floor was coming up and warped in places it was solid wood tongue and groove planking. I intended to put down engineered flooring untill I removed the original floor. I found that it was laid on batons and that the floor in places is totally uneven , it actaully looks like subsidence in places (as I cant believe that anyone would lay concrete so unevenly). The house is circa 17:00 with no foundations. Can i skim the floor with a cement 3-1 mixture and lay membrane, batons, chipboard and underlay prior to laying the engineered flooring on top? I dont want to re-concrete the whole floor as it is 28m2 and runs down by 3 inches right to left. Anyone have any ideas /advice, Is the baton /chipboard solution viable?
