can an expansion vessle be moved, does it have to be a specific distance or height from boiler.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE EXTENSION TO THE SYSTEM MUST NOT EXCEED THE WATER VOLUME DESIGN LIMITS APPLICABLE TO THE EXPANSION VESSEL IN THE SYSTEM.

IF IT DOES THEN A LARGER OR AN ADDITIONAL VESSEL WILL HAVE TO BE INSTALLED.

SEEK ADVICE FROM BOILER MANUFACTURER IF BOILER INSTALLATION AND COMMISIONING INSTRUCTIONS ARN'T AVAILABLE OR DON'T CONTAIN THE REQUIRED INFORMATION.

An expansion vessel is best tee'd into the return pipe as close to the boiler as possible.

If this is not possible, an expansion vessel will work pretty much anywhere on the system.

Most expansion vessels are built into the boiler, maybe yours has been replaced with an external one as it is sometimes easier and quicker, if location/room is an issue you could check whether your boiler has a pressure vessel built in - and replace that one.
