Extending cables to consumer unit

CAN ANYONE HELP PLSE.I WANT TO REPLACE MY EXISTING CONS UNIT AND SHIFT IT APPROX ONE MTR FROM IT'S EXISTING POSITION.THE PROB IS THAT THE EXISTING CABLES ARE NOT LONG ENOUGH (RING MAINS AND LIGHT CCTS ETC) CAN I TERMINATE THE EXISTING CABLES INTO JUNCTION BOX'S AND EXTEND NEW CABLE UP TO THE NEW POSITIONED CONS UNIT

Hi Paddy , let your PART P registered electrician worry abt how to extend cables as it's not legal to change your own consumer unit,
