extending terrace

by smaxer » Mon Mar 25, 2013 2:01 pm

I have a terrace at the back of my house about 1 mtr higher than the garden, I want to extend it out approx 2 mtrs. this would involve building new retaining wall and infilling with earth and rubble & topping with slabs, the length would be approx 6mtr. I would like to use blocks, single skin with piers if poss. Is this OK and what bocks are reccomended and should back be sealed as will have front rendered, any advise welcome.

1metre high 6metres long, I would use hollow concrete 215mm wide blocks filled will concrete.
For that project there will be a lot of weight against it 100mm wide wall with piers is not strong enough
Paint the back of the wall with buitumin to stop the render from failing.
