External Leak Between Meter and Stopcock

by RobRob » Fri Jul 06, 2018 8:58 pm

Hi,

I have a leak between my meter and stopcock. The distance is about 30 metres & except 2 metres is all under either the house itself, a substantial patio or my garage. The house is grade 2 listed, so I’m amazed that the black pipe was even laid under the foundations, to an extension, mind you - it was 1970s so perhaps that explains it.

The pipe is black alkathene - so am sure that’s the cause of the leak & have concluded I need to relay the whole thing.

I can connect into the house internal pipework fairly easily in the utility room - which overlooks lawn & gravel parking.

So, my question is, how much of this can I do myself? I guess I can dig the trench (750mm deep?) & lay some blue pipe. But what about the connection into the meter itself - which is on the pavement!

Thanks - Rob
