extra lighting

ive run a spur off a toilet light into my shed next door to the toilet i ran a live wire through to shed and came out off the live back to a switch as per the light in the toilet switched the power on and the lights came on great i thought switched the light off and it blew the trip switch in the house any ideas please

Is the shed detached from the building if so parp p of building regs should be looked at on project pages.
Also so look on replacing a new light on projects pages useful diagram.

Hi, you have connected the light incorrectly!
Neutral from original goes to Neutral in new light (blue).
Live from original goes to spare 'loop-in' term in light with live to switch (browns) {NB these do not connect to the light }
Switch line back from switch goes to Live term. of light. If this is blue it must be over marked at light & switch with Brown sleeveng/tape to show it is not a Neutral.

BTW the fuse blew when you turned switch ON as you probably connected it directly across L&N, it may well now be welded ON and need replacing.
