First Home Improvement Project Plastering Walls and Sanding Floors in Flat

by EdinburghFlat » Tue Feb 06, 2018 12:02 am

Hi everyone, I have just bought my first flat and it needs a bit of doing up and I'm just after a bit of advice.
I'm starting with the bedroom.
Walls and ceilings are stripped and I've found a plasterer who will skim it all to give it a good finish so I can paint directly onto the walls.

It's got carpet at the moment so I'm tearing that up to expose the floorboards.

Couple of questions:
1) Should I sand the floorboards first or would it be ok to plaster first, then sand?
2) Should I remove the skirting boards to then put them back on afterwards? Or can the plastering and floor sanding be done with the skirting on?

Thanks!

I would suggest sanding the floorboard first before plastering. On the other hand, remove the skirting also and put them back after sanding the floor.
