Fitting a brass 3 arm ceiling light

by Milie39 » Fri Oct 02, 2020 5:24 pm

Hello, the brass light fitting & the ceiling rose have 3 wires. The light fitting has got to be hung off a hook & not the ceiling rose. Can earth to earth, live to live, & neural to neutral be connected together with a connector block?
Thanks

Hi millie39
If you are referring to a connector block with three separate joiners then yes but make sure the earth is connected to the fitting.

I used a ceiling rose like this, it allows connecting everything without holding the weight, then simply slide in.

Most ceiling roses are rated 5 kg, in theory we should reading the regulations be able to hang a chandelier of up to that weight, however I have seen even electricians fit ceiling roses direct into plaster board, and I am sure 5 kg would bring it down.

One shown is the Maestro Plug In Ceiling Rose, there are other makes, but I liked the hook.
