Fitting a new gas fire Information, help and advice on many gas related subjects from gas fires to domestic appliances

hi there
ive just moved home and the house im moving into has an old brick gas fire fitted, all a want to do is replace it with a new gas fire. All i keep hearing is i should get some one in to fit it but surley it's just a case of checking the floom and making sure there are no leaks. if this is not the case please help Darren.

the flue and terminal need to be checked to make sure it is suitable for the appliance that is being fitted, the gas has to be tested for tightness, pipe size and gas rate. The catchment space has to be sealed, and the flue liner removed for most fires.

By law a CORGI registered engineer has to install any gas appliances, if anything goes wrong and there's a loss of life and your not corgi registered or even if you are corgi registered then there's no doubt it'll be a prison sentence and a hefty fine.
