Fitting a saucepan hanging rack to kitchen ceiling

by sarah68 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:30 pm

Please can someone advise me on how to drill into a (kitchen) ceiling safely? I want to fit a hanging rack for saucepans. I think the ceiling is plasterboard with artex on the top. I have a pipe/electrics detector but am wondering how to locate joists. Do I just tap until I hear the sound of a solid area? Any advice greatfully received! Many thanks, Sarah

You can also but some joist detectors which can locate joists. When you have found a joist, screw your rack in with some wood screws. It should give you solid fit.

HI

Have you had a look at the DIY projects section, particularly the project on locating joists: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/detectingstuds.htm
This may be of some help to you.

Cheers
