Fitting a Stove to an Open Fire with Existing Back Boiler

by Zippy84 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:16 pm

Hi Folks,

I am in the process of purchasing a property that has an open fire with back boiler. A brief chat with the vendor tells me they never got the efficiency out of the back boiler they would have liked, lukewarm rads etc. Afaik it's much more efficient to fit a stove into an open fire. Can this also be easily hooked up to the existing back boiler system and will the back boiler run at a higher efficiency with a stove feeding it? House was built in 78, I can only assume that's how old the back boiler is too? Would it still be fit for use if so?

Of course I plan to have all this checked out professionally, I'm sure it's pretty apparent I don't know anything about it... I am just trying to plan where the initial funds are going in the meantime.
