I am having a new bathroom installed. I currently have quite an old fashioned cistern raised above the toilet seat (about shoulder height when sitting down)
The new bathroom has one of the new type cisterns which rests on the back of the toilet and hads a button flush facility. My toilet is currently fitted against a false wall, dividing the bathrrom and the spare room. Do you think it will be a problem fitting this toilet or should I be alright?

Hi Sazza78 , Is the new wc going to be positioned in the same place as the old one or is it being repositioned somewhere else? If its going in the same place then there shouldn't be any problems. The plumber should be able to connect the waste pipe onto the existing soil pipe and the cold feed to the cistern should present no problems to a competent tradesman/woman. As far as fitting the w.c to a false wall ( I take it you mean plasterboard type wall ) then there are fixings which will hold this appliance in place no problems. Hope this helps - MB.

Shouldn't be a problem there are decent plasterboard fixings that culd be used, most of the weight is tken by the toilet pan itself - the wall fixings are just to steady the pan and cistern.

If still in doubt, try and find or cut away the plasterboard and add a noggin for the cistern to be screwed back to.

if the cistern will sit fairly tight to the wall apply three or four blobs(technical terms) of silicone between the cistern and wall this will stop any movement saves worrying about the plasterboard and screwing etc
if you need to remove cistern in the future use a hacksaw blade between cistern and wall to cut through the BLOBS
