Fitting Chimney Liner And Box For New Gas Fire

by JayJay123 » Mon Nov 04, 2013 11:49 am

Not me personally, but a corgi gas registered gas fitter.

Bit of a long story, but in short, there was no draw on the brick built chimney. I got a chimney specialist out, and he took out everything - box, liner, the lot.

So I now have to fit a new liner, box and all. Before installing a gas fire.

Can you tell me, can the gas fire fitter do this, or do I need another specialist before the gas fitter comes to fit the fire.

Fitting a flu liner now comes under the building regulations and the fitting must be done by either smeone who is registered on a competant tradesan scheme for that particular job, or it can be fitted by a layman but must be approved by the building control dept of your local council. Ask the gas fitter if he is registered, if so he can self certify the installation, if not he will ahve to get it passed by the authorities.
