Fixing a cable brush wall plate to plasterboard

by alfieb2204 » Mon Mar 03, 2025 5:15 pm

Hello everybody, this is my first post and I hope you can offer a solution to my question.

My son has just tried to fit a cable brush wall plate, through plasterboard, in his home. Similar to the one in this link https://www.amazon.co.uk/VCE-Cable-Wall ... B07X3DRRZ7

After he had cut the hole on both sides we hit a problem. The screws supplied, which seem to be bog standard screws, merely made a hole without any grip so one of the plates is now loose. It didn't help that he cut the access hole roughly the same size as the plate apperture leaving very little space for a screw to grip at the edge.

I thought of finding a suitable plasterboard screw but they all seem to be of a large gauge. Also, there's the problem of available wall to screw into. Then I considered using a contact glue, on the edges of the plates, but I'm unsure which is best to stick plastic to plasterboard.

Can anyone suggest a suitable adhesive? I was considering Gorilla Glue but couldn't see any mention of sticking to Plasterboard.

I hope someone can help

You are supposed to install a dry lining box into the wall, then secure what your son has got to the dry lining box
