Fixing bookcase to plasterboard

by vezco » Wed Jan 23, 2008 11:00 pm

I'm sure this is a very basic question but here goes.

I have bought some free-standing bookcases but they need to be fixed to the wall at the top. I've worked out how to fix them to the plasterboard but how do I fix them to the actual studs. Do I just use rawl plugs? Do they need to be specially deep?

Answers gratefully received.

Hi vezco,
So i've guessed that you have decided to use either toggle or hollow wall anchors to fix bookcase to wall. Then it depends what the stud is? if its wood just normal wood screws, if it's metal you can buy screws designed to screw in to metal stud work. No special fixing needed.
