Floor or wall first?

by Just » Wed Mar 28, 2007 7:32 am

I am about to tile our bathroom. We are putting tiles on the wall and floor. Should I do the wall or floor first?

Personally if given the chance I do the wall first so that any spillages or dropping of tiles does not affect the floor tiles and can be easily cleaned up.

One exception is if you're removing skirting boards -as when they are replaced at a greater height (due to floor tiles running underneath) you may end up with a large/ too small gap from the bottom wall tile to the floor. A way to get the best of both worlds is to leave the bottom wall tile unfixed until you've the board back on.
