Floor Polishing problem

by vjratne1740 » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:33 am

I use cardinal red polish (polish+wax brand) and floor poisher to polish my sitting room floor area. It gives a good shine. But this area is separate and used sparingly, as we have another small regular sitting area.

After 2 weeks or so, some white clouds appear in some places on the floor and needs re-polishing.

Why is this? How to overcome this problem?

Assuming this is a wooden floor white blotches appearing as if under varnish and/or polish are usually a sign that some moisture has been varnished over. This may have been in the wood as you applied the finish. It has now been sealed in and is unlikely to evapourate out so you may need to remove the surface and allow to dry out. See our project on floor finishes.

Dear Doctor

This is a cemented floor which is 35 years old - polishing for 35 years or so, on monthly basis.

This problem cropped up recently about an year ago.

It may be Blooming like the Doc said , I would note the affected areas then clean back and allow to dry then reseal . If it reoccurs in the same localized areas I would then look at the slab it self
