Flourascent strip light not working

by Dilhan » Tue Jan 27, 2009 4:18 pm

Hi

The light in my bathroom is one of those old flourescent strip lights.
It has been working fine for a number of years. Suddenly it stopped working. Naturally I thought it was the starter or a new bulb. I bought a new bulb and replaced. It still didn't work. I know the new bulb is working as I tried it round at my neighbours. Here's the thing -I thought these lights have those starters in them, and this one doesn't??

Please help!

Thanks

Dilhan

if all the other lights in the house are working and you have done no diy on the circuit I'll assume there is power there. highly lightly you need a new fitting.

Hi, are you sure the starter is not inside the fitting somewhere? If not the fitting may be a 'transtart' unit which if so the fitting has reached its 'sell-by' date, as cost of parts more than a new light.
