Frame on top of wooden panel trailer

by paulontour » Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:34 am

Hi - I have a sturdy, wooden panel trailer. The wood panels are very thick and the trailer is sound. I would like to make a frame which is fixed to the outside to make a 'roof bar' to be able to fix a roof box to, or cycle carriers. A suggestion has been made that I can use box steel, with 4 uprights and 2 horizontal pieces. Although I can easily bolt the uprights to the side of the trailer, does anyone know the best way to clamp the upright to the piece over the top? Would prefer to use clamps so I can remove if necessary. Or any alternative ideas? Was thinking of using steel tubes as connectors for that seem good. Thanks

Hi paulontour
Suggest you use scaffold poles and standard clamps which are readily available, alternatively use lighter poles and clamps from Kee clamps.
Regards S
