Gap around air brick between wall and floor

by CoLo » Mon Jun 06, 2022 1:15 pm

Hi, please could you help.
After removing carpet / underlay and skirting, I found a gap between the floor and wall around an air brick.
House is victorian, so over 100 years old.
How can this be fixed before laying laminate and replacing skirting please? No owner the room gets so cold!

Many thanks,
CoLo

Hi colo,
You could drop the air brick by one course, use a liner and fill above it with mortar. Alternatively form a duct using aluminium trays (it looks like you've done this already) and then apply expanding foam to bring up to floorboard level.

Thank you Stoneyboy, that's really helpful.
Will go with the alu ducting option (don't think it's there atm).

Thanks again, much appreciated,

CoLo
