Gap between the tiles and the underlying roof support in new build

by tmcb1234 » Sat Feb 13, 2021 2:30 pm

Hi,

In our new build, I have noticed at the top that next to where the window juts out, there is a gap between the tiles and the underlying roof support. Pictures below demonstrate this.

Is this normal? I am assuming not as the eaves are freezing cold and I can feel drafts in the house. What would the builder need to do to rectify and what phrasing/key terms to use?

Thanks in advance!

Hi tmcb1234
You could ask for the gap to be pointed using mortar with black colourant in it. It is doubtful that this will have any effects on the draughts inside your home.
