gas valve outside

by uk_ducati » Wed Mar 25, 2009 10:27 pm

hi

could anybody tell me if it is legal to have a gas isolation valve fitted to a gas pipe outside. all other regs are ok eg pipe clips and sleaving through walls

cheers

It has to be a close as possible to where the pipe enters the property, was it is not possible to fit one internally ?

I would at least want a box over it, to stop people turning it off or being knocked to the off position. Also to protect from weather/rain etc.

hi

thanks for the reply

basically i was disconecting a gas fire and capping off the pipe that come through the wall so it could be decorated and the fire changed at a later date. there was no room to fit a tap internally and i assumed there was not one fitted but on filling the flue hole in i spotted a stop valve fitted outside and didnt know wether it was allowed or not. it was close to the entry point to the house.

cheers
