gurglling noises from the sink

by roystowell » Sun Feb 10, 2008 6:58 pm

I have a sink that drains into a soil pipe 3 meters way. When water drains away we get gurgling noises for about 15 seconds after the water has drained. I'ved tried fitting an anti syphon trap but it hasn't made a noticable difference. Any ideas?

could be build up of debris in the pipe work causing the water to gurgle as it makes it way thru

The pipework is newly laid. So nothing should have had time to build up. The issue has always been there

I can give the only two answers.
1 you mentioned that the pipes are new, so I think the 'run' is too steep. roughly for every 4feet the pipe drops no more than an inch, any more and it 'draws' the seal on the sink trap which is like someone gasping for air.
2 You have a blocked drain outside. More likely!!.
