Hi, I recently bought a round mirror. It is in a wooden frame, and is apx 2ft in dia. and weighs 12kg. I am looking for the best way to hang this.
On the back of the mirror is a plastic loop.
The wall is a brick chimney breast, with a layer of plaster, however (like the rest of the house) the plaster is quite poor, and tends to crumble.
I have been reading about this, and some places recommend a 'masonry hook' (excuse me if the lingo is wrong), but this seems to be overkill, plus if I later decide to remove the mirror, I'm left with a great big hook in the wall, that doesn't look like it will come out again.
Others suggest simply a screw and raw plug solution, but I would be concerned about the mirror slipping of this, and also whether it would be strong enough.
Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what might be the best course of action?
