Hearth full of rubble...

by toxster » Sat Sep 25, 2010 3:16 pm

About to install a wood burning stove. I've taken out the box covering the old fireplace, had it swept and the stove is on the way.

Problem though is that there is no base to the fireplace. I've scraped out about 5 buckets of loose crumbling hardcore and rubble clearly dumped there. I'm now about foot down... and worried that I'll hit Australia soon. ..

Should I just stop now and fill in the hole with concrete?

Thanks.
