Heavy shelves

Post by nothandyandy » Wed May 09, 2007 7:28 pm

Hi, I've recently bought a rather large piece of wood weighing about 25kilos from a reclamation yard primarily to act a a heat barrier between my flat screen telly and the rad below it. I want to fix the wood to the wall in a manner similar to a floating shelf. I sworn I've seen it done on changing rooms type programs with bolts screwed into the wall and holes of similar diameter drilled into the wood allowing it to slip on and off (perhaps I dreamt it!).

Can anyone help? :?

See our project on chemical fixings. This will allow the bolts into the wall in the form of studs then the shelf can slide on.
