Help and Advice Needed on Drainage and Paving Issues

by obliviate1975 » Fri Nov 25, 2016 11:15 am

A survey of our 1970s' house has uncovered some potential problems with drainage and the extensively paved front-drive.

Drainage: It has been suggested that drains that serve the property may be blocked and there's a lack of gullies. Lots of stagnant pools especially where downpipes "enter" the ground.

Extensively paved front-drive: Suggested that this was a botched paving-job. No outlet for surface water, area becomes a wading pool after rain...

I'm terrified of the possibility of being "taken to cleaners" by the wrong person asked to investigate drainage-issues. Being a non-expert in any drainage matters, how would one best assess the "you need £10,000 worth of drain investigation, clearance etc" conclusion being given by this wrong person?

Thank you kindly for any advice, comments etc.

you will need to have a camera survey done first. This will identify any problems, and then have a high pressure hose, clean the drains to clear any debris. If any drains have collapsed or broken you can have just a section replaced
