Help Needed Connecting Dishwasher Waste Pipe

by alan123 » Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:29 pm

Hello,

Don’t know if someone cloud help me please.

I am trying to connect a dishwasher to a waste pipe, but didn’t want it just hanging in the pipe, so bought one of these:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-hose-connector/48625

Then I tried a 40mm coupler to connect to the waste pipe, but the pipe is too small, I then tried a 40-32 coupler (https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-st28m-straight-connector-white-32-40mm-x-1/95260) but the waste pipe is bigger than this.

Measuring the pipe, the outside diameter is 39mm. It’s a reasonably new waste pipe.

Does anyone have any idea how to connect to this?

Appreciate this is probably a basic question, but finding quite frustrating!

Many thanks.

Could you clarify, is it he 40mm connector that is too big for your 39mm waste? There are two types of waste pipe and fittings, push fit and solvent weld, and they are not compatible without a compression joint.
