Just moved into a new (to me) house and am determined this one will not fall down around my ears :O) Lots of smallish jobs to do including exterior woodwork. Trying to work out what was already on it as I'm no expert whatsoever. Wondered if anyone can help here - there's three pics -two dark brown timber and one light wooden gate. Would anyone hazard a guess at what they were originally 'painted' with?

The gate I would say has been oiled or clear varnished, and the dark wood could be either a dark varnish or sadolins extra woodstain.
