Hole in Rendering and How to Fix After Lorry Trailer Crashed in to House

by EddieF » Sat Jun 11, 2016 2:31 pm

A heavy trailer crashed against the front wall of my house after the trailer came off the tow hitch (the drive slopes), pushing some blocks backwards slightly (cavity wall) cracking the render and pushing back a section about one foot square, which is still stuck to the block behind it. It's gone in about an inch to half an inch. There are also some fine cracks in the render above the impact. The house was built in the 80's and the render is coloured red slightly and the dry dash seems to be a non standard colour mix. I've tried to get two tradesmen but I guess the job is too small for them to be interested. I am a little nervous of tackling the job, although I have used mortar before with blocks, building three garages some years ago, but I've never tackled rendering. We will be trying to sell the house soon, so it needs to look OK.. (Inverness area)
