hot radiators when only hot water is selected.!!

by mickey.j. » Fri Sep 14, 2007 9:26 am

hi ,all
newbe here so appolgies if this problem has already been answered..when we have the timer set for the heating systen all is fine, but if we set the progammer to hot water and rads. off, then we also have the upstairs radiators gettng hot as well .when they should not be off.
i think it could be the mid postion valve, but i am usally wrong is there any way to check if this is the valve before i end up spending a small fortune .
i have a `y` plan system i think, with a `travis perkin mid postion actuvator installed in the airing cupboard, the only model markins i can see are `MA1`.

any suggestions please. :

dont turn off that Rad as this is what is called a "Heat Leak" your boiler needs to get rid of heat even when Ch is not selected so that is why it is always hot, if it is a new system then this may be it, we may need more details to help or call out an engineer to have a propper look.
