The hot water from my vented indirect cylinder has only been lukewarm, so upon investigation I discovered that even with the manual 3 way valve set to HW only, the bottom pipe from the coil was still stone cold. I suspected a blockage in the coil.
For some reason there is a length of pipe with a screw down valve on which runs between the flow and return pipes of the cylinder coil, I closed this valve (which was open before) and started the CH pump to force water through the coil which seemed to do the trick. I now have hot water and the bottom coil pipe is warm/hot as it should be.
The question is; what is the length of pipe with the screw down valve and is it ok/safe to leave the valve closed? With the valve open this pipe seems to provide an alterative and preferable route for the heated water as opposed to going through the coil and heating the cylinder water.
I know this is complicated but I have a diagram, dont know if it is possible to attach it in the forum though??
Thanks to anyone that can help me out.[/img]
