Hot water tap requires wiggling to get water out !?

by Yeti-man » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:34 pm

My flow from my old hot water tap got less and less and required me to wiggle the tap once open to get any water from it. The process of wiggling the tap and turning it on and off simultaneously would eventually enable full flow/pressure from the tap. The effort & time reqired to gain this increased gradually over weeks/months to the point I replaced the tap. The new one was fantastic (despite being a cheapish one) but now that is doing exactly the same thing (the cold side of the mixer tap is unaffected). Is this just a case of limescale build up, or has something worn out/come adrift within the tap/body ? Can I take it apart and clean or replace anything to get back full use of the tap without having to wrestle it into submition first. Has anyone got an exploded diagram of a typical kitchen mixer tap. Any advice/help much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
