Hi,
Hope some of you can help me, i have to to do a project for training course which involves full rewire of a two bedroom house and also to install a burgular alarm. Any help or tips on which size of cable,flex, how it should be run or any help with regulations would be great. I also have to cost the job so any help where i could get a good price on materials would be great.

P.S dont actually have to do the jobs just explain and draw out a diagram to explain how it should be done will have to base this on the 16th reg as it has to be completed by june.

Can't be a great deal of help, all sorts of stuff to be considered. Size of property, specification, cable routes, conduit, trunking, placement of equipment, cable selection is it run in T+E or singles.
Have a look around your house/home take into consideration what you would need in any particular room to forefill it's electrical needs, heights of socket-outlets and switches, read the regs and have a go at doing it, best way to learn.

If you look at the projects under Part P or regulations you will find a link to Part P down-loadable version that gives a diagram of a house and what MCB's etc should be used I think that would be good start. You will need to decide what is going to be in the house and make a plan to follow. Ikea do a kitchen planner. You must first decide what you want before you can even start on the wiring. Also remember your lectures are not daft and most likely know all about this site and are likely to take a very dim view of it should they identify you. I would use screwfix as the price site. Make up some story about having account. Although CEF also do down-loadable catalogue but pictures are not as good. Alarms are normally limited to rooms with unaided access i.e. down stairs and if you want police response than each room must activate two zones. Think thats enough to start with.
