How do I fit flush pipe seal for Geberit low height cistern? All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi, need some help fitting a new seal and c-clip for Geberit cistern. I know where it needs to go but can´t see how to get the flush pipe off without dismantling the cistern, i.e. I can´t just pull the pipe out of the cone/pan because the mounted cistern doesn´t have any slack in it. Can anyone help or is it necessary to take the cistern off (see images)?

Probably easiest to drain the cistern, undo the fixing bolts and lift upwards to give access to the flush pipe.
