How Much is Realistic Compensation to Fix Issues With new Extension?

by anonymous1977 » Fri Feb 16, 2018 11:42 am

We've recently had an extension built. There have been lots of issues along the way which have taken a long time to resolve with the building company, but one of the outstanding issues is problems with floor levels.

The ground floor is screeded. From one side to the other, there is approx an inch fall where it is not level! The floor has since been covered with Karndean and I would estimate it to cost around £1k for it to be ripped up, releveled and replaced.

The first floor is boarded. There is an obvious 'hump' of about 1 foot wide where the existing room joins the new side. When they knocked through the floor was approx 20mm higher on the new side. They have made as good as they could to cover the school boy error, but the hump does show under the carpet and will show more once the carpets are older and are not so puffy and new.

We are now due to pay the final account, but wanted advice on realistically how much reduction we should take off this for the above?

Thank you.
