How to attach wash basin pedestal to tiled floor - options?

by Oaktree » Sat Aug 28, 2010 9:40 pm

Re-doing downstairs bathroom completely. Have just tiled the floor with large tiles which are not flat and gloss. They are near bottom end fake stone sort of tiles, with a surface which is a bit uneven and matt. (So better grip underfoot.)

For putting in the toilet basin we assume we have to carefully drill down through the tiles to the concrete floor underneath and screw the toilet down to the floor.

For the hand basin pedestal, we were hoping to avoid a second set of drilling through tiles and wanted to know if it would be sufficient to put down some wall tile adhesive between the floor tiles and the pedestal, to seat it a bit more firmly?

Use Silicone sealant rather than adhesive. It works better, and won't crack.
