How to build a sturdy frame for acoustic blankets?

by Technoid » Sat Jun 05, 2021 4:58 pm

I want to make a small vocal booth by using a PVC frame to hang acoustic blankets on, then wrapping the top in another blanket. I might double the blankets, or use mass-loaded vinyl instead. Would hanging MLV work, or does it have to be attached to a sturdy wall?
That would also get heavy, would PVC be strong enough for that, or do I need to use aluminum?

I live in a small apartment so construction work is out of the question. Also, would this be too heavy for the floor? I'm assuming not since most people buy heavy exercise equipment without worrying about that. Or am I underestimating the total weight of 1lb MLV for a 4x6ft booth?
