How to drill out 100mm of tree slice?

by rosscolquhoun » Sun Nov 15, 2020 6:46 pm

Hi, I am trying to drill into logs roughly 8-9 inches in length and the same in diameter. I need to drill out 100mm in diameter by 100mm in depth to make them into plant pots. Can I do this with one 100mm drill bit?. I have tried with a 25mm auger bit but it all ends up a bit rough and also with a big forstner bit but that turned out too torquey and the logs kept spinning. My question is would a 100mm drill bit do the job in a oner or am I better fumbling along with the smaller ones. Also what size of drill would I need for this type of drilling?. I've got a Bosch 750 dual speed and an 1100 one. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
