How to finish off the DPM on a concrete base?

Post by OldandGrey » Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:58 am

Hi, I'm putting in a shed base 2.5m x 5.85m. I've dug down 200mm because I want it to be level with my patio when its finished. I am putting 100mm of hardcore in first, compacting that with a wacker plate, then sand to protect a damp proof membrane before pouring ready mixed concrete on top to level. My question is how will I treat the damp proof membrane as it comes up the side of the base and reaches ground level? Will it just be cut off and if so, won't damp get in that way? I have access to it while the shed isn't constructed but once it's up, I won't have much room on 2 sides at all so I want to get it right first time.
TIA

OldandGrey,
If your shed base is larger than the shed I would suggest you lap the DPM onto the top of the concrete base and protect it from daylight with slates or quarry tiles sloping away from the shed.
