How to Fit Vinyl Flooring Over Porcelain Tiles in Bathroom?

by Rab61 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 10:03 am

I am planning to fit a sheet of vinyl flooring in a bathroom in which the existing floor is porcelain tiles. I would welcome any advice on how to prepare the floor so that the grout lines at the tile edges will not show through the new vinyl flooring as from what I understand self levelling compound cannot be used on porcelain tiles.

Thanks in advance for any advice given

Vinyl tiles can be laid over porcelain. However, it is vital to render the surface of the porcelain tiles completely smooth, as this will prevent cracking and pitting of the vinyl. Preparation involves the removal of damaged or cracked tiles, the filling of the holes created by their removal, and the leveling of the grout lines..
