How to hang a punch bag bracket to an outside wall

by CraigMac » Tue Nov 04, 2008 1:38 pm

Hello,

Since we converted our garage my wife has decreed that my punchbag must be hung outside. I've got a bracket but I'm not sure how best to fix it to the wall. The punchbag weighs about 60kg (it used to hang from the garage roof joist) and the house is timber frame with cosmetic facing bricks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Craig

Hi

Have you had a chance to have a look at the DIY Projects area: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects.htm especially the project entitled "Fixing (General)" You may find a suitable item here. If not contact the Site Box as they may be able to assist you further.

Hi Craig,

If the holes are a fair distance apart say 150 mm then use rawlbolts/ sleeve anchors, if close I would use resin fixings.

Google 'em

Good Luck

Thanks for that - my only concern was that the weight would damage the bricks as they are only cosmetic.

Cheers,
Craig

Craig,

Resin fixings won't damage the brick, but over tightening mechanical anchors CAN!

Good luck
