The drain at the bottom of the downpipe seemed to be blocked, after inspecting and digging out the drain collapsed and I discovered that there was no further drain to a soakaway, which I assume is why this corner of my living room has a damp problem as the clay soil is pooling the water and allowing limited drainage. What do I need to create a drain to move this water? I have purchased a bottle gulley and a few lengths of standard pipe and my intention is to dig a trench and then a soakaway at the end of the pipe work. Have I missed anything and is this the most effective way of removing the water from the downpipe.
