How to open a swan necked mixer tap to fix drip

Post by strontium_99 » Tue Feb 15, 2022 1:41 pm

Hi all,
I've got a dripping bathroom tap. I've searched on Google, but can't find any info on the tap I've got.
I'm familiar with washers on old model taps, but got no idea with one of these.

I've posted an image of the tap. Just need to know how to open it and what I should be looking to replace. It's got circular panel things on both the Hot and Cold taps. Not sure if these need prizing out, or if they unscrew some how, or even if that's the right path.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi strontium_99,
You need to remove the caps from the hand capstans probably by prising them off with a sharp knife. Then remove the capstan and the bell shroud, you will then have exposed the ceramic cartridge. These unscrew the same way as a washered head work but you will have to buy a complete replacement - repair of the moving bits is not possible. You may be lucky and the sealing washer on the bottom may have perished, if yes replace this.
