How to remove this tap handle to replace washer?

Post by fguk01 » Tue Apr 14, 2020 1:17 pm

I have tried to lift the top cap to expose a spindle screw but it does not seem to be removable. Is it possible that the tap 'handle' unscrews anticlockwise from the body after it has been turned fully open? I have tried but don't want to damage the tap and nothing wants to give.

Hi fguk01.
The top dome unscrews to give access to the fixing screw.

Hi fguk01,
You’ll probably find they are ceramic disc valves. The valve itself generally does not leak but the sealing washer on the bottom of the valve assembly disintegrates. Try replacing the sealing washer first.
Regards S.
